Picture this: You've been reborning your doll kit for weeks, meticulously adding one layer of paint to the other until your doll looks just like a real baby. When you're all done, you decide to protect all your hard work with the Genesis Heat Set Matte Varnish, just like the tutorial told you to. You take a break, come back to inspect your work and find your baby frozen in white matte varnish crisps. Hours of work ruined! What are you going to do??! Click "Read More" to find out! We've all been there, so don't feel bad. Even after reborning for years, I still run into issues that I could not have anticipated. The key is to take a deep breath, cry if you need to, assess the extent of the damage and come up with a repair plan. That's what happened to me last week. So I'm here with tips on how to fix your matte varnish disaster and how to avoid more disasters going forward.

Ive tried the matte varnish twice and its acting awful so I've decided to leave it unvarnished. :( Also my heat set glaze that came from Bountiful baby looks glittery when I apply it. I hate the way it looks. Is it suppose to look like that? And where can I get the air dry gloss?? Thanks Amanda

Ugh! That's so frustrating! :( Is the varnish waxy or goopy in the jar? If it's waxy or stiff, you need a new batch. That stuff is useless when it gets old. But its awesome when its fresh.

Hi Kim,I have kits from bountiful babies and they are new kits. And when I use the varnish on some kits, they turn out fine, but others, nope it flakes up. I'm glad I got to see this video because I thought maybe i didn't bake long enough. I will try this method to see if it helps at all. But I will admit this makes me not want to put varnish on any of my dolls.

Please help! Can you add complexion layers and darken a reborn that has been sealed? If so, can you paint over possibly air dry with GHSP?

That's what I did sherry. I only got the flaky stuff in the face of the doll so I blushed her more and it went away.

I have 2 questions. I stripped the paint off the legs with acetone and now the paint does not seem to be adhering. What can I do? 2nd question, can I paint genesis heat set on top of acrylic air dry or vice versa?
