Few tutorials will tell you to paint a base coat on your doll kit. But it is certainly worth the time you'll spend doing it! It takes a long time to add a layer of paint, so I had to spit up the video to make it easier to render and upload. Part 3a goes into detail about how to mix your base coat paint and apply it to the doll, how to paint an even layer on your doll, some of my favorite painting tools and the Number 6 Never Fail Rule of Reborning! In Part 3b, I share "my little trick" for painting a perfectly even complexion layer on your reborn doll's head. Added bonus: Why I don't hollow out the nostrils! Hiya, i absolutely love your tutorials, so much so that i have decided to reborn a doll...or 2.... for myself (i have previous experience in sketched portraits but nothing like this) i was just wondering what temperature setting and time would you recommend using between coats on an Andrew James digital halogen oven? Unfortunately to get a nuwave pro i would have to pay a lot in import tax as i am uk based. :/

Hi Kim! I just love your videos! They are so helpful. I recently decided to start to reborn and have all I need. I'm so excited but want to make sure I do the steps in order. Can you tell me what order you do skin layer, veining blushing and mottling. Also what do you set the kits on in the oven?? Thanks so much!

Well, I don't think you'll blow up your house, but no need to take any risks. Typically by the time I finish coating all five pieces of the doll kit, the first one I painted is dry - maybe 10 to 15 minutes? You can tell that all the solvent has evaporated when there are no shiny spots left. If you're in a hurry, which I often am, you can dry the pieces in the oven at a low temperature like 100-degrees F.

I have a question. What color would you use for base coat for a Indian doll? I'm using Shylynn bi-racial script from BB to make it. Thankyou Wilda

Still Flesh 08. The goal is to have a neutral, even canvas on which to add your complexion colors.

I didn’t think the Genesis heat set paints and acrylic air dry paints would mix. Just read a note on a reborn site where an artist used both on a baby. !??

I recently had a request by a woman, asking if I could make her a baby with an American Indian complexion. I was wondering if you or anyone on here has done an Indian complexion and if so what genesis paint color combination did you use. I am thinking burnt sienna, raw sienna, cadmium red, and ouche. Any suggestions please on paint ratio.

I just purchased a toddler kit and it's kind of big for my Nuwave. I can't get ALL the limbs in at the same time and the head basically touches the element. I'm wondering if I should put the kit in my conventional oven. Thoughts.
