Today we entered Day 1 of Painting. Very exciting!
As you know, reborn dolls are painted in many, many, many transparent layers of paint to achieve a lifelike complexion with subtle mottling, veins and blushing like a real baby. I've found that I get best results when I apply one flesh tone layer as a primer. Since Wyatt has many deep creases - especially in his hands and feet - I carefully apply the paint to make sure I've covered everything without getting excess accumulation of pigment in the creases. Thankfully, I have my 2x magnifying glass with 5 high power LED lights. With it, I can see Wyatt larger than life to make sure everything looks just right. This and my oven are two of my favorite pieces of reborning equipment. I also started the first mottling layer, which we'll talk more about tomorrow. More to come!
