More than a year ago, I unboxed my first Realborn in the hoping of creating a doll for myself. Much to my disappointment, the paintbrushes I got in Evon Nather's hair painting class came with blue handles that left stains all over my doll. So I never finished. Yet here we are so many months later getting this little guy ready to go home with a "boo boo" discount! It all works out in the end. Check out his photos and videos on Presley's Page.

I'm still waiting to get the call from Santa letting me know who wants a baby for Christmas this year. In the meantime, I'm working on little Presley. His mottling and flesh tone layers are coming along nicely.
My new baby has a terrible case of "New Car Smell." He smelled so strongly of vinyl that it made me cough when I held him. Time for a bubble bath! Like all babies at CustomDollBaby.com, Presley got a nice warm soapy bath to remove all factory grease and his little B.O. :) The warm water felt really good on my tired hand. The bubble bath is followed by a cool alcohol bath to remove any remaining residue that may interfere with the paint. Now he's all clean and ready for his base coat. Excitement buzzed in the air this morning in the humble home studio of CustomDollBaby.com. Before I had finished swallowing my last bite of breakfast, I had already donned my coat and started out the door. I carried the small tan paper my mailman left me indicating that a very special package awaited me at the Post Office. I could not wait to bring it home. With no line and no wait, I quickly retrieved the doll-shaped box. It was heavier than I expected. I was wondering if it were big enough to contain the other supplies I had ordered or if there would be yet another package to hunt down. Out of breath and gasping for air, I burst through my husband's home office door and deposited the package on the floor. Box Openings are a family affair and he was going to be a participant whether he felt like it or not. :) It was worth every minute! The outer box contained a decorated inner box. That inner box contained everything I could hope for and more! I treated myself to Bountiful Baby's Realborn Presley Awake WITH EXTRAS! I'm now the proud owner of baby 1231/1500 - all sold out! He's beautiful! I've never seen such detail on a doll. And he came with gifts - a blanket, some headbands, a little cap and a matching pillow. Now I know how my customers feel when their babies come home! How exciting! I love my job. :) Here is how Bountiful Baby describes this beautiful creation: "A Realborn® is a Real Baby Replica, created directly from computer photometric scans of a precious real newborn baby. The beauty, innocence and soul of the newborn child is captured like never before in these stunning, heaven sent creations-- the most beautiful and perfect canvas ever offered to the reborn world!" The detail is truly amazing. I can't stop looking at him. Each time I see him I notice something new: his little hand wrinkles - even down to the finger creases. His pouty mouth - you can even see gums! And his lumpy head. It was love at first sight!
Now we have a limited edition blank canvass from which we can create practically any baby - boy or girl, any ethnicity, any skin color. Who will my Presley become? Honestly, I don't know. Got ideas? Leave me a comment! |
