In spite of having neutralized the vinyl before we started painting, Holly's complexion was turning orange when her mommy wanted golden brown. Thanks to the color wheel, a few yellow-green washes took the red out of the orange and left us with a gorgeously lifelike golden brown!

With the hairline finally done, I'm working my way up the back of the head.
I decided to spray a little water on Colyn's locks to finally see what we've got. Loving those baby curls! To create Holly's beautiful biracial reborn complexion, we started with a Flesh 03 base layer before adding custom complexion colors. Looking great so far!
One of my favorite finishing touches is sealing the painting and texturing the skin. A beautifully tinted matte varnish layer creates gorgeously lifelike baby skin.
The moment has finally arrived. All the painting is done and this vinyl doll has finally become a lifelike reborn doll baby! We'll let her nap for a little while before we start rooting. :)
In the meantime, enjoy some before and after photos! With his beautiful Veining, Complexion, and Creasing complete, we're now ready to blush little Casey to a warm and beautiful complexion.
He's looking so sweet so far! Painting all those tiny creases so the baby fat looks even more plump and sweet! Check it out! I'm honored to have the privilege of creating a doll in the likeness of Baby Casey. Delivered at only 25 weeks, Casey sadly is no longer with us, but will be cherished forever in our hearts.
Caleb by Heather Boneham, is only a precious 15" long and gives us a beautiful canvass for Casey's Memorial Doll. Here he is getting is many mottling layers so he looks as lifelike as possible. Toddlers are not typically heavily mottled, but I find a little bit of mottling can go a long way toward toddler reborn realism. Here are Holly's mottling layers! Interested in learning how to do mottling? Check out the demo!
Mottling Lifelike Reborn Baby Skin Why post pictures when you can post a video? Check out Alissa Beth's second complexion layer. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am going to cure the paint once this layer is dry. :) |
