Every good process starts with a good plan! To root gorgeous lifelike baby hair on your reborn doll, we need a rooting plan. This tutorial describes in detail why, how and where to draw your perfect rooting plan! Part 1: Drawing the Reference LinesWhy Draw a Rooting Plan?
What to Use to Draw Your Plan? What you use for your plan depends on whether or not you want to keep your plan. In other words, you need to decide upfront if you want to be able to wash the plan off when you are done rooting. Reference the chart below to help you decide:
Drawing Your Reference LinesBefore drawing the hair pattern, we need to identify 5 key shapes on the doll head. Click the images to enlarge.
What's Next? For no reason other than the fact that this post is very long, I'm splitting it into two parts. Check out the next tutorial to learn how to use these reference lines to draw the hair rooting pattern! Thank you for sharing your tips on how to reborn. I find your teaching method great! I have started reborning as a way to deal with chronic illness. I have actually made a baby for my mother who suffers from dementia and I can not tell you what a difference that baby has made to her daily existence. Well, greetings from Australia and thank you once again - you are a superb teacher and reborn artist! I have much to learn ...

Love your videos and tips. I bought my first vinyl reborn but it has painted hair. I want to root her myself (bad idea?). Can you suggest where can I get tools from legit stores? I'm learning a lot from your videos as I really want to start my journey on reborning. I have been a long time doll collector and maker (stealing my Lola's (granny) fabric scraps and hand stitching them together and giving out as a prize to my friends).
